Telling Tales In Balingup:13 -14 July 2013

Telling Tales in Balingup is an exciting children’s literacy and story telling event. Held on the middle weekend of the July school holidays. The event is designed for primary school aged children 4yrs – 13yrs.

A host of published WA authors and illustrators present interactive workshops throughout the weekend. A multiple of sessions on offer at any given time allow you to select a session which best suits you and your children. Children will also be able to learn the art of traditional book binding, and take home their very own book.

Adults can of course accompany the children to the workshops and enjoy a coffee in the cafés or browse the many interesting retail outlets. Balingup is renowned for its fabulous events and is sure to host a weekend worth attending.

Nannup Flower & Garden Fest: August 15-18th 2013

In 2013 Nannup will showcase how the elements of Fire and Water both challenge and help the gardener. With fiery red blooms and water features galore you will be captivated by the beauty of flowers in planter boxes and gardens. Artistic floral displays are a highlight, always full of fun and creativity. The breathtaking Great Hall of Flowers features hundreds of tulips and hyacinths which will ignite your senses and inspire you.

Admire the mighty Blackwood River as it winds its way around the festival precinct.  Enjoy the warmth of the open fires around the town as you relax and sample this unique country experience.  Ramble through a country garden, savour a Devonshire tea, visit the quilt and craft display, explore the many art, craft and gift shops and nose around the antique car displays, you’ll find plenty to enchant you.

The Weekend village market offers local craft and garden goodies for sale and the Garden Marquee features a program of singing from choirs and singing clubs both near and far. Garden demonstrations are also on the menu. Activities are low cost or free and are held in sheltered marquees or community buildings around the town.
